I just played the Batman Arkham Asylum Demo on Playstation 3 at David's house and my heart is still pounding from the sheer excitement it offered, this game is simply awesome, must get this game. The demo for Batman: Arkham Asylum has been released for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. I played the demo version partially so far and the game continues to impress me with extremely detailed and powerful fighting scenes, action replays from Batman's punches and kicks, freedom to attack situations using a variety of tactics, clever weapons, stealth modes, detective modes and high-quality voice acting. This is definitely a step beyond the regular gaming experience of super hero fighting so far. The game is so real that you can even see Batman and other characters breathing or panting and in detective mode you can look through Batman's cowl visors to see their heart beats=nervousness level...
Arkham Asylum is incredibly detailed, everything from computer controlled automatic gates, gargoyles to straight jacket chairs to confine Gotham's criminally insane...
I think the Batman Arkham Asylum game has an interesting and rather novel way of handling urban hand-to-hand combat, the result is a product that allows Batman to attack quickly and finish up vicious thugs and enemies in a few seconds and secure them to move on to more important things like the sociopathic Joker who has seemingly sprung a trap by getting captured by Batman and using Batman to open the gates of Arkham's insane world from inside...
The game is designed so you can run around Arkham either following Batman from behind or walking in front of him while looking around and eventually makes you feel like Batman. You can stop and talk with officers and hear their stories and take control of situation as calm and logically as Batman would do. The power and swiftness of Batman's ninja techniques are easily implemented by game controls and a single button pressed with variety of time delays lands surprisingly gratifying punches, kicks, cape evasion and more.... I was very impressed overall by art work and the grey gloomy design of Gotham. Arkham's criminally insane and Batman's arch enemies which have yet to hit the main stream cinema like Killer Croc, Harley Quinn, Bane etc are all going to show up...
I cannot wait to play the full version, ETA 8 days from today....
Not much is known as to how the free flow combat system works in this game and neither Rocksteady studios or Eidos in UK have commented about it on their website. Experiencing the advanced free flow combat moves definately makes one think about how they implement it in algorithmic world. Anyways the advanced free flow combat combo moves for Batman are demonstrated here:
